The cost of the transfer varies depending on the car&#8217;s engine displacement in cubic centimeters. The vehicle can be transferred by following the necessary procedure at either the Office of Transportation and Communications or the Citizens Service Center (KEP).  <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>After submitting the supporting documents,<\/strong> the interested parties or the duly authorized persons\u2014the seller and the buyer\u2014exchange affidavits stating the purchase price in order to submit them to the tax office. The transfer usually takes three days. <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"> <strong> During this time, the buyer may legally drive<\/strong> <strong>and insure the vehicle<\/strong> he has already taken possession of, using the ministry&#8217;s sealed photocopy of the registration certificate, until he receives the original and the process is formally completed.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>DOCUMENTS<\/strong><\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The supporting documents required for the transfer of the vehicle are:<\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Vehicle IX registration (original and photocopy).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Existing KTEO (technical inspection form), if required for the vehicle (original and photocopy).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Vehicle Transfer Request.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Proof of ownership (repayment agreement) if the seller still owes on the car (purchased it on an installment plan).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Identity card or passport for both the seller and the buyer.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Buyer&#8217;s VAT ID.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Bank document for the payment of the transfer fee and the vehicle registration fee. In the statement of reasons, be sure to include the vehicle\u2019s license plate number. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Certificate issued by the competent Tax Office (DOY) regarding non-payment of traffic fines.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>PLEASE NOTE: In some cases, foreign nationals from third countries will also need to submit proof of a residence permit in Greece.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If the supporting documents are not submitted by the person concerned, then all supporting documents must be authenticated by the nearest police department or KEP. In addition, authorization will also be required to verify the authenticity of the signature, along with a certified photocopy of the authorized person\u2019s police ID or passport. <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>PROCEDURE<\/strong><\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Interested parties should go to the relevant department and submit the required documents. The civil servant issues a new temporary license. After seven days, the buyer receives the final, official license.  <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>THE COST<\/strong><\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The costs associated with transferring the vehicle are borne by the buyers. Specifically, they pay the registration fee of 75 euros and the transfer fee, which varies depending on the car&#8217;s cubic centimeters: <\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>EUR 30 for vehicles with engine displacement ranging from 51 to 400 cubic centimeters.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>EUR 45 for vehicles with engine displacements ranging from 401 to 800 cubic centimeters.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>EUR 60 for a car with an engine displacement of 801 to 1,300 cubic centimeters.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>EUR 90 for vehicles with engine displacements between 1,301 and 1,600 cubic centimeters.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>EUR 120 for a car with an engine displacement of 1,601 to 1,900 cubic centimeters.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>EUR 145 for vehicles with an engine displacement of 1,901\u20132,500 cubic centimeters.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>EUR 205 for 2,501 cubic centimeters or more.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Payment of the fees is deposited into a bank account number provided by the district or KEP officer.
